Addiction
Help
Drug addictions and the lack of addiction help, addiction and recovery
programs, and drug rehab help has become a workplace problem. Currently
some 73 percent of all drug users between the ages of 18 and 49 are
employed either full or part-time. That works out to more than 8.3
million drug users on the job.
Statistically about 7 percent of all full-time workers use illicit
drugs and the percentage is about the same for heavy alcohol use.
More than 1.2 million full-time workers abuse illicit drugs and drink
heavily on a reasonably regular basis.
Caucasian males between the ages of 18 and 25 with less than a high
school education have the highest rate of illicit drug abuse and heavy
alcohol use. In a survey of five work sites, 18 percent of persons
who drank alcohol and 12 percent of illicit drug users reported that
their performance at work had declined as a result.
Addiction and Recovery Drug Rehab Help
With between 44 and 80 percent of young adults ages 16 and 17 working,
and with those of them working more than 20 hours per week being at
high risk for substance abuse and injury, the whole issue of drug
addictions, addiction help, addiction and recovery, and drug rehab
help has become an issue of significantly more importance for workplaces
to address than in the past.
